Sumeria

Kerajaan Sumeria (3500 SM) Bangsa Sumeria adalah bangsa yang merintis peradaban Mesopotamia. Bangsa ini berkuasa sekitar tahun 3500 SM. Mereka berasal dari daerah di sekitar Teluk Persia. Bangsa ini menganut kepercayaan politeisme atau mempercayai adanya banyak dewa. Dewa-dewa tersebut, antara lain, Uruk (Dewa Langit), Nippur (Dewa Bumi), dan Eridu (Dewa Air). Tempat untuk memuja para dewa tersebut adalah ziggurat. Bangsa Sumeria juga sudah mengenal tulisan, yaitu tulisan paku. Kebudayaan bangsa Sumeria akhirnya berakhir setelah pada tahun 2350 SM diserang oleh bangsa Akkad di bawah pimpinan Sargon. Bangsa Akkad adalah rumpun bangsa Semit.
